As local Lynchburg (VA) area Christian home educators, it is our mission to share news, information, and fellowship opportunities pertaining to home education, family and community life, and related endeavors.
Through LA NICHE, we seek to provide an outlet for connecting families to each other… and to groups, organizations, activities, and other resources and information for enhancing their children’s Christian education.
LA NICHE is designed to offer parents venues that will assist them in bringing their family the experiences and lessons the Lord has laid on their hearts to share with their children… before they leave their nest.
THE EARLY YEARS
In June 2006 LA NICHE began at Yahoo! Groups. Our group was blessed with great growth, expanding to over 320 local families in size, and was a fruitful endeavor for those in our local homeschool community.
During that time, Home Works Lynchburg, another organization with a similar goal and mission of connecting and supporting local homeschool families and organizations was founded. At the beginning of the 2009-10 academic year, our LA NICHE Y!G came under the auspice of Home Works Lynchburg. The Home Works 4 Me! Y!G can be found here.
AUGUST 2009 TRANSFERS
The mission of LA NICHE is fulfilled through various venues designed to connect local homeschool families to each other… and to groups, organizations, activities, and other resources and information for enhancing their children’s Christian education.
Through August’09, the LA NICHE Blog at LANICHE.org, served as the public arm for sharing our homeschool community’s news as an extension of our private Yahoo! Group. During the process of transitioning the Y!G from LA NICHE to HWL, as noted above, it was also agree that HWL’s HomeWorks4Me.org website would become the public source for our area’s current event-type news given the HWL mission and vision, the community calendar they already offered, and the relatedness of these private (Y!G forum) and public (local homeschool news) connections.
LANICHE.org RETIRED JUNE 2011
LANICHE.org was officially retired on June 1, 2011.
TODAY
LA NICHE continues to follow our mission by providing our homeschool community with an array of resources pertinent to Christian family life and home education via our LA NICHE Companion Sites venues listed at top of this webpage.
